Parent Led Volunteer Opportunities
MVP Mansion Volunteer Program
Mansion Volunteer Program (MVP) is a volunteer group of parents and grandparents who have the best interest of both the school and students in mind. MVP is committed to assisting in school and fundraising for general operation of the school, teacher professional development, student activities, and teacher appreciation. Every parent, grandparent, and guardian who has a student enrolled at Mansion Day School is a member of MVP.

A portion of all proceeds spent at the selected restaurant is donated to MDS.
Room Parent Assignments
Room Parents at Mansion Day School play an invaluable role in the overall Mansion Volunteer Program (MVP) They are the link between MVP, the classroom parents and the teachers. Room parents are volunteers who:
- Assist teachers as called upon (i.e. come early for performances, offer parent perspective as appropriate, address teacher wish lists, etc…).
- Coordinate special events for the classroom (i.e.: teacher birthday, holiday parties, etc.)
- Bridge any communication gaps among MVP, classroom parents, and the teacher
Help create a welcoming environment for new parents in the classroom
Scholastic Book Fair
Scholastic Book Fairs are held twice a year (Fall and Spring). The Book Fair is held in the main lobby and is coordinated through the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. The Director emails parents both a reading recommendation list tailored to each grade level and teacher wish lists for each classroom library and parent volunteers operate the sales during the mornings and evenings of the week long fair.
School Spirit Wear Sale
Each MDS student, staff, and family member have the opportunity to show their school pride by ordering their own non-uniform MDS logo t-shirt or sweatshirt. Students, and staff can wear spirit wear on dress down days, on field trips, and during special events. Parent volunteers coordinate with the MVP Chairperson to disseminate order forms and collect monies, as well as distribute orders upon arrival.
Starting Off on the Right Foot Annual Walkathon
This annual event is held in the fall. In addition to raising money, this experience fosters a sense of “family” by welcoming our new families and promoting good health. Families and supporters meet at a city park to fulfill pledges and earn prizes for the following: the class that raises the most revenue, the “family” with the highest number of people walking, and the teacher who walks/runs the most laps. Parent volunteers secure the location, items for the “goodie bag” (ie: bottled water, healthy snacks, health and wellness information, etc.), as well as prizes for the winners.
Teacher Appreciation Week
Each year at Mansion Day School, we take one week at the end of the year to collectively show gratitude and appreciation to our teachers. Students are asked to bring gifts that align with the theme. At the end of the week, the teachers are honored with a luncheon. Parent volunteers are needed to plan the daily activities of teacher appreciation week as well as the final luncheon.
Teacher’s Lounge Monthly Appreciation
One day each month, a classroom parent from each grade level decorates and provides a light meal (breakfast, lunch, or snack) for all teachers and staff. In addition to the decorations, which remain up for the entire month, students and parents provide a small token of appreciation (a poem, a thank you letter, a sweet treat, etc.) that correlates with a selected theme.
